Wellness Wednesday: Rest is Your Investment
It's midweek, the perfect time to pause, breathe, and check in with yourself.
This week, I want to talk about stress relief when you're wearing so many hats and juggling demanding responsibilities. The pressure to show up fully for everyone can be overwhelming, and I've been feeling it, too. I know what it's like to try and manage a demanding work schedule and family responsibilities all while running on fumes.
Personally? I've learned that my need to be the "perfect" person in every role was just fear disguised as dedication. I was so scared of failing that I actually neglected the one thing that helps me succeed: rest. That lack of rest made me irritable and ineffective in the very roles I was trying to protect.
Quote of the Week: "Don't measure your commitment by how busy you are, but by how peaceful you are." —Unknown
Here's the tip I'm leaning into this week: Commit to setting a "hard stop". You are not failing the people you serve by stepping away for 30 minutes. Be intentional about when you transition between your different roles.
Why it matters: Taking a restorative pause is an act of stewardship over your energy. It allows you to fill your cup so you can pour from the overflow, not the empty well.
Wellness Challenge: Today, identify one role you can intentionally set down for 60 minutes. Put the phone away, close the laptop, and just be.
Your Next Step Remember this truth: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28). Your well-being is worth the investment.
